Meath Hill School (1941-1988)

The Meath Hill school of 1854 was replaced by a new school which was begun in 1941 and opened in 1942 following the appointment of Fr. O’Neill. The building has been improved on a number of occasions, but a major extension and renovation job planned for 1986 was shelved due to cut-backs in funding.
In 1940 there were 84 pupils on the roll of Meath Hill School. This figure had increased dramatically by 1955 when the total number was 123. By 1975 the number had decreased to 88 and 92 pupils were recorded in 1988.
