Rev. Dr. Thomas Fleming
• Rev. Dr. Thomas Fleming was presented by James Il to the Rectory of Drumconrath in 1690. He was ordained at Ardpatrick, Co. Louth, in 1674 by Dr. Oliver Plunket and was 54 years of age. Fr. Fleming lived in the townland of ‘Moonistown’ and was held in high esteem by the Protestant gentry and revered by the people of this parish. It is said that he had a narrow escape from being drowned while crossing over the flooded River Dee to attend a sick call in Inismot. At that time, he requested the bishop to exonerate him from the care of that parish and as a result Inismot was incorporated in the union of Syddan or Lobinstown. The Rev. Fleming died at an advanced age and is buried in the graveyard of Syddan with his friends.
