Ballinavoran: Confirmation Records

Here are some statistics taken from Dr. Plunket’s diaries regarding his visitation to the parish.
1782 Ballinavoran (Rev. Mr. Maglew) 8 confirmed
1786 Ballinavoran (Rev. Luke M’Glew) 14 confirmed
1797 Ardagh and Drumconrath at Ballinavoran Church (Rev. Luke M’Glew) 3 6 confirmed
1798 Ballinavoran (Rev. Luke M’Glew) 1 6 confirmed

Dr. Plunket writes “I announced to the pastor that I must send an assistant, whom his infirmities rendered absolutely necessary”

1800 Ballinavoran (Rev. Philip Mulligan) 9 9 confirmed
1802 Ballinavoran (Rev. Philip Mulligan) 109 confirmed.
1809 Ballinavoran (Rev. Mr. Hacket) 128 confirmed.
1814 Ballinavoran (Rev. J. O’Reilly) 101 confirmed
1815 Ballinavoran (Rev. J. O’Reilly) 8 4 confirmed.
1820 Ballinavoran (Rev. Sheridan) 112 confirmed.

Dr Cantwell was the next Bishop of Meath but in his diaries, he simply gives a list of parishes visited each year – Ballinavoran is not mentioned.
(An interesting statistic in Dr. Cantwell’s diaries is the following: In 1839 in Drumconrath 495 children were confirmed).
